The course is a combination of theoretical and practical sessions. Students are assessed continuously during the course.
Students must have achieved NZQA US 17588, Permit to Work Receiver or equivalent.
Theory assessment followed by practical assessment which takes place when the student is ready/has shown that they can perform all tasks required. The practical involves completion of two permits and auditing of two other permits, as part of an on job assignment (OJA) signed off by a supervisor at the student’s workplace and returned within 90 days.
To maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher training occurs regularly. Depending on the industry you work in this may vary. Current Wood Training recommendation is every three years.
