This course enables students to obtain knowledge of the safe operation of a forklift on a roadNZQA Unit Standard 18496 L3 C2 V2 and the legal obligations pertaining to that plant in a place of work. Skills in the completion of pre-operational checks prior to operations, parking and shutting down a forklift will be taught.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:
A combination of theoretical and practical training and closed book assessment.
Some operator experience is essential. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must hold appropriate current full NZ Drivers License other than a full Class 6.
Theory assessment followed by practical assessment which takes place when student is ready/has shown that they can perform all tasks required. Assessment involves operating a Forklift on a simulated road with and without a load.
MITO requirement: Where an assessment is conducted on a lease or hire forklift, a copy of the lease/rental/hire agreement must be attached to the assessment schedule. If the machinery utilised meets this criteria please forward a copy of the agreement to WT.
