Course Content

The course focuses on:

• What is a permit system?
• Legislative workplace requirements.
• General permit requirements.
• Types of work requiring permits.
• Permit types.
• Authorisation/endorsement, cancellations.
• Permit changes.
• Associated documentation.
• Isolations and requirements.
• Completion of two (2) permits for practical assessment.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

• demonstrate current knowledge of a permit system.
• Carry out two permits in compliance with organisational requirements.

Course structure

This course is an online course.

Course prerequisites

Current NZQA US 17588 or a documented equivalent that is deemed acceptable by Wood Training.

Assessment process

It consists of online learning modules that you work through at your own pace. At the very end of the course there are summative assessment tasks.

Revalidation/Refresher

To maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher training occurs regularly. Depending on the industry you work in this may vary. Current Wood Training recommendation is every three years.
